Rotary Members Approve 2 Major Projects

At the December 6, 2011 Rotary Club meeting the members voted to approve both major projects that were presented to the club.

Approved at the meeting was the grant reqeust from the City of Cadillac for $120,000 over the next 2 - 3 years for renovations at the Rotary Performing Arts Pavilion.  The Pavilion was built 20 years ago by the Cadillac Rotary and is in need of some repairs and improvements.  Included in the renovations will be moving some of the current walkways to not interfere with performances, improved sound system and leveling the performance stage.  The entire cost of the project is approximately $300,000 and addtional grants are being sought.  To review the grant click here.

The grant request from the Cadillac Area YMCA was also approved.   The actual amount to be given in the grant will be 75% of the net proceeds from the 2012 Rotary Auction up to a maximum of  $58,000 for outdoor playground equipment at the site of the Y,   This playground equipment would be built in stages based upon the funding available.  Included in the playground is a streetscape with road signs that would allow children to ride trikes and learn about road signs.   The area would be used in coordination with Baker College's Early Child Development Program.   For more information on the grant, please click here.

The Rotary Club voted to fund the YMCA project from the 2012 Rotary Auction and then start the payments on the Rotary Pavilion project from subsequent auctions.     Now that the major projects are determined, Rotarians are busy making plans for the April 21, 2012 auction to raise funds for the playground equipment at the Y.
